Tally Terms of Use
Effective date: 13 December 2023
Hey there. Welcome to Tally. Tally is currently in private testing and under active development, which means a lot could change by the time we release it to the public. At present, your use of Tally is subject to the these terms. If we make any changes to the terms in the future, we’ll notify you if you have a registered Tally account.
Once we release Tally to the public, this document will probably become a 26-page bunch of legal gobbledygook. For now, we’re going to state the Tally terms of use as clearly and succinctly as we can.
Our terms
- Tally is currently an iPhone app and you must create a Tally account to use it.
- You may only register for a Tally account if you are at least 13 years old.
- You may only register for a Tally account if you are a resident of the USA or its territories. (For now.)
- You may only register an account for your own personal and private use, and you may not transfer it to anyone else.
- You may not use Tally in any way that is illegal where you live.
- You may not use Tally to record anyone without their consent, regardless of whether that is illegal where you live.
- You use Tally by recording audio of yourself or others, or by sending “prompts” (i.e., questions or photos) to others so they can record audio and send it back to you. You agree to grant us a license to the content you create so we can operate Tally as advertised.
- When you send prompts to other people, they can respond to you by either using the iPhone app themselves or by using a web app. If they use the web app, they do not need to use an iPhone and can respond to you without creating a Tally account or sharing any personal information. The web app is more limited than the iPhone app and is used only to respond to prompts.
- Tally is free to use, but in the future we may add a subscription tier to fund Tally’s continued operation and make it self-sustaining. If we do add such a tier, anything you’ve done with Tally before the subscription tier's introduction will be grandfathered into the free tier.
- We take your privacy seriously. Our Privacy Policy goes into more detail.
- You may stop using Tally at any time by using the app to delete your account. If you do this by mistake, go back in time and be more careful, because once you’ve deleted your account, we can’t recover it.
- We may suspend or terminate your use of Tally at any time for any reason and at our sole discretion.
- You are solely responsible for how you use Tally.
- While it is in private testing, we make no warranties or guarantees about Tally’s current or future operation.
